Like if I worked for a car magazine such of Car And Driver, Motor Trend, or even Hot Rod. How much money do they make?

Probably the general upper range for a staff photographer would be about $50,000 to $60,000. That would be for a top senior photog. Between $30,000 and $40,000 is a better estimate for an experienced shooter. Depends on what you are doing and for whom.
Most photographers are freelance. You make more money that way, but it is not a job for the timid.

Usually £1200 for a days shoot.
But remember that you only will shot 2-3 times a month for the mag and therefore you will need other jobs to do.
You get charged per shoot and not a fixed-salary so you need to photograph in several mags to get a good income.
Phone them up! Just ask the magazine themselves, it’s not as if they know who you are (withhold the number – 141).
I can see that you are into motor photography, so if I was you, I’d go down to your nearest racetrack and start practicing. You never know – the track might even offer you a job.
Practice panning the camera (on a tripod) so that you follow the car. This is a pretty hard technique at first.
    Good luck!

I dont know if they have staff photographers. With out knowing better, I would assume they use contract photogs (freelancers), and they get paid per session/assignment.
They probably get fairly decent pay, but not a steady check.
