Perseverance is the key. Its a long term investment. The music industry is very saturated. You have to really stand out to make some money. Most of the time it takes artists many years to get even noticed and make money. For the first decade or so you have to live below your means, creat music just for the love of it. Look it up. Read the history of your favorite bands. They first played in bars, unoticed for many years, they kept doing it until finally they get a contract.

Don't expect to make millions right off the start....you need to find a market for your music, then you need to find someone to produce it, a studio, etc. You can start by contacting The Labels, what I mean by that is people that produce music like, Sony, DefJam records, RCA, SlimShady Records, etc. and shoot them an email and ask what their suggestions would be, maybe find a local recording studio and talk to them. Hope that this helps you in pursuits and the best of luck to you....you also might try the local radio station for any tips...Peace

not much
if you sign with a label they are gonna take in about 20 percent of your profits
then you have to manufacture cd's which will cost alot of money.
also when you sell you cd's to best buy or wal-mart, they are going to take some of the profits
at the end of it all even with a decent album you cannot expect to make much
the best way to go is digital albums. sell you album on myspace or something. this does not require you to sign with a label company and you don't have to pay to manufacture cd's.
